Many aviators\ndon’t realize the serious risks associated with dehydration and poor nutrition. Inadequate fluids\nwill lead to increased physical and cognitive strain that negatively impact flight performance.\nThis presentation will review the mechanics of nutrition and hydration and provide current\nrecommendations for quality\, quantity\, and timing of nutrient and fluid intake to perform at your\nbest. \n  \n\nBio:\nKelly VandenBossche is a US Navy veteran with extensive experience in aviation human factors\nand human performance. She earned a Ph.D. in Exercise Science from The University of\nTennessee\, Knoxville and is an American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)-certified Exercise\nPhysiologist. In the Navy\, she served on flight status as a Naval Aerospace & Operational\nPhysiologist/AeroMedical Safety Officer until her retirement at the rank of Commander in\nDecember ‘21. She currently is a consultant on aerospace medicine and human performance\nissues. \n
