Vets Invited to Participate in Parade on July 27

    July 3, 2012 - All veterans in attendance on Friday, July 27, at EAA AirVenture 2012 are encouraged to participate in the annual "Parade of Veterans" starting at 2 p.m. from Scotts Warbird Alley, where they will be saluted as the march along the flightline. The parade is proudly presented by Oshkosh Corporation.

    The parade will conclude at Phillips 66 Plaza, where the veterans will be welcomed by EAA President/CEO Rod Hightower and an Oshkosh Corporation representative for a ceremony that will honor their service.

    The parade is just one of several special events scheduled for "Salute to Veterans Day," presented by Sikorsky Aircraft

    Corporation, on July 27, which will also feature an expanded "Warbirds Extravaganza" air show, the Honor Flight welcome home ceremony, and a special evening performance from country star Phil Vassar.

    Also on July 27, all veterans and active military personnel can pick up a free Salute to Veterans commemorative hat, courtesy of Oshkosh Corporation, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), and EAA Warbirds of America.

    Additionally, Scotts Miracle-Gro, presenting sponsor of the popular Scotts Warbird Alley, will again offer a free commemorative lapel pin to all veterans and active military personnel throughout AirVenture.

    All veterans and active military personnel who are not EAA members are eligible for a special daily AirVenture admission rate of $31 (nearly 25 percent off the regular daily price). This special discount is only available for tickets purchased in advance online. EAA-member military personnel will continue to receive the EAA-member rate, the lowest adult admission rate available to the event.
