Gone West – Long-Time Member Tom Wood Passes
EAA Warbirds of America is sad to announce the passing of long-time member Tom Wood, Warbird #164, of Carmel, Indiana. Tom died after an extended illness on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at the age of 77.

Wood was among the original core group of aviators who formed EAA Warbirds of America in the 1960’s. He was the proud owner of a P-51 Mustang which he operated for many years – possibly the longest length of owner/operation by any one individual in the U.S.

As CEO and owner of the Tom Wood Automotive Group, he was well-known for his successful car dealerships in the Indianapolis area. He will be remembered for his generous support of local charitable organizations. Tom is survived by his mother, Leona M. Wood, his wife Julie, sons Jeffrey and Christopher, along with five grandchildren. Funeral services were held February 9^th.
