Department of Homeland Security Extends Online Comment Period for Stakeholders “One need only review EAA communications on security issues over the past several months, or take a look at the discussions in the Oshkosh365 forums, to see the dramatic influence of Department of Homeland Security proposals and actions on the general aviation community,” said Earl Lawrence, EAA vice president of industry and regulatory affairs. “This is an opportunity to weigh in on subjects such as the proposed Large Aircraft Security Program, airport security directives, Customs and Border Protection reporting requirements, and other DHS initiatives that could threaten our aviation freedoms and privileges,” he said. Stakeholders, including the general public, will be able to add their comments by visiting www.HomelandSecurityDialogue.org (a free website), which is billed as a perpetual online forum. Once at the site, users can communicate with other stakeholders including federal agency partners; state, local, and tribal governments; first responders; emergency managers; law enforcement officials; academic experts; business leaders; IT professionals; and interested members of the public. DHS also asks users to submit and vote on the best ideas for improving homeland security, which in turn will be reviewed by top DHS officials. |
