January 23, 2008 - The 2008 Recreational Aviation Summit gave the EAA Warbirds of America the opportunity to hold an open discussion with FAA officials regarding the future of vintage and experimental aircraft. The EAA Warbirds of America asked for and received a commitment to continue work on revisions to FAA Order 8130.2F, an order providing critical guidance for the experimental exhibition category aircraft. FAA Associate Administrator, Nick Sabatini voiced his support of the Warbird movement, stating the FAA is willing to facilitate efforts to solve the issues of concern in the Warbird community.
The rapport we have established over the years with FAA management allows EAA Warbirds of America to work directly with the FAA to resolve “safety and operational issues for Warbird operators,” said Rick Sigfried, EAA Warbirds of America president.
