Disabled American Veterans to sponsor Colonel C.I. Williams
July 13, 2007 - The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) will bring history alive during the Warbirds in Review event at the EAA Fly-In here on July 28.

Kicking off at 1 p.m., DAV special guest and noted aviator Col. C.I. Williams will lead the Warbirds on Review session along with pilot Larry Kelley, owner of the B-25 bomber Panchito. DAV will sponsor the event in cooperation with the EAA Warbirds of America.

Lieutenant Colonel Charles I. Williams retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of honorable service. His awards and decorations include the Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with four (4) Oak Leaf Clusters and the Air Force Commendation Medal. He is a Command Pilot with approximately 8,000 hours of flight time in nearly 50 different aircraft. While serving his country during World War II, he flew eighty-nine missions.

Oshkosh is one of 17 stops on the DAV Airshow Outreach Program’s 2006 season. DAV sponsors the appearance of vintage aircraft at airshows across the nation in order to spread its message of service to sick and disabled veterans in a patriotic, military friendly environment.

The 1.3 million-member Disabled American Veterans, a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1932, represents this nation’s disabled veterans. It is dedicated to a single purpose: building better lives for our nation’s disabled veterans and their families. For more information, visit the organization’s Web site www.dav.org.
