Olympia, Washington Event Added as Warbirds Wings Venue
    May 19, 2011
EAA Warbirds of America is pleased to announce the Olympic Flight Museum’s 13th Annual Air Show, will be a “Warbirds Wings” Program designated event.   The event will be held June 18 & 19, 2011 (Fathers Day weekend) at Olympia Airport, Washington (OLM). The Olympic Flight Museum’s Annual Air Show approval as a Warbirds Wings event was a direct effort by EAA Warbirds of America and Cascade Warbirds, Squadron #2, to empower the local Warbirds Squadrons with more effective leadership in their regions.

The Warbird Wings Program rewards pilots for bringing their Warbird-type aircraft to certain pre-approved aviation events around the country. Our members can show their pride in participation by earning credit for each event they attend with their Warbird-type aircraft. At the first level, pilots are awarded Warbird Aviator Wings. At the second level, pilots are awarded Warbird Senior Aviator Wings. At the third and final level, pilots are awarded the prized Warbird Command Aviator Wings. The Olympic Flight Museum has been a long time supporter of Cascade Warbirds and it’s a fitting event and location to pursue the goals of the Warbirds Wings Program.  “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to be the lead squadron on Warbirds of America’s latest initiative to enhance the regional authority of their organizations”, said Cascade Warbirds Commander Greg Anders.  He added, “EAA Warbirds President Rick Seigfried and Executive Director Bill Fischer met with Cascade Warbirds leadership at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2010 to discuss how EAA could better support the squadrons and we quickly agreed that delegation of Warbird Wings program venue designation was a clear first step.”

Fischer stated, “Cascade Warbirds has long been a hub of Warbird activity in the Northwest. We’re pleased to add the Olympic event as an approved Warbirds Wings venue. We encourage our Warbird pilots to sign up for the program and work towards earning their Warbird Wings.”
