August 14, 2008 – Folds of Honor Foundation Announces 2008 Patriot Golf Day
to Benefit the Families of America’s Veterans

More Than $1 Million Raised Last Year Towards Scholarships for the Children and Spouses of American Heroes Killed or Disabled in Action

Tulsa, OK – The Folds of Honor Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting the education of children and spouses of American soldiers killed or disabled while serving their country in Iraq and Afghanistan, today announced that its successful Patriot Golf Day program would expand to a
four-day event at private and public golf courses, ranges and golf retail outlets across America during Labor Day Weekend (August 29 - September 1). Launched by Folds of Honor Foundation Founder Dan Rooney – a PGA Professional and USGA member, and F-16 fighter pilot with the Oklahoma Air National Guard -- Patriot Golf Day is a partnership between The Folds on Honor Foundation, The PGA of America and the United States Golf Association. It is also supported by the National Golf Course Owners Association and the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America.

Last year’s inaugural Patriot Golf Day raised more than $1 million to support the Folds of Honor Foundation’s efforts to provide scholarships to military families. More than 3,200 courses participated in 2007 Patriot Golf Day. Golfers at public courses were asked to donate a minimum additional $1 to their greens fees. Private courses solicited donations, and many facilities raised thousands of dollars via creative fundraising ideas. The first scholarships will be awarded by the Folds of Honor Foundation – formerly known as the Fallen Heroes Foundation -- this spring.

“To date, nearly 4,500 soldiers have made the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan and many more have been seriously wounded as they fought to protect and defend our country,” said Rooney. “Patriot Golf Day is an opportunity for Americans to come together in the spirit of golf and make a significant difference for families who have already given us so much. It’s something easy and fun that all of us can do to show our support and appreciation.”
