Training Command Returns to the Warbirds Area

The EAA Warbirds of America will again feature the Training Command area to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, highlighting the military aircraft that prepared combat pilots for their frontline cockpits. This year’s focus will be the primary trainers used in different eras and by different countries. Here’s what’s in store for 2008:

    • The EAA AirVenture Museum’s Consolidated PT-3 will represent the 1920s and 1930s era.
    • World War II saw the development of the Navy’s N3N and the Boeing PT-17/N2S “Stearman.” Seeing these two aircraft side by side will highlight their differences and similarities.
    • The 1950s Cold War era brought a smaller primary trainer to many of the world’s air forces. WOA will feature the Beechcraft T-34 used in the USA; the Russian Yak-52; and the Chinese Nanchang CJ-6.
    • The Beechcraft T-6 Texan II rounds out the lineup of primary trainers and bring us back to modern day aircraft used by the U.S. Navy and Air Force.

EAA and Warbirds of America invite visitors to include a stop (or two) at the Training Command tent in Oshkosh this summer.
