December 16, 2013 – Jerry Yellin, Distinguished Flying Cross recipient, to speak at Saturday’s NWOC Lunch.
Enlisting in the Army Air Corps on his 18th birthday, NWOC’s Saturday Guest speaker went on to a distinguished flying career during WWII.
Jerry Yellin served in the Pacific Theater with the 78th Fighter Squadron, participated in first land based fighter mission over Japan, and the last mission of the war. Later Jerry was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with an Oak Leaf cluster and the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf clusters.
Jerry is currently serving as spokesman for the Spirit of 45 organization to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of WWII. There will be numerous flying activities on the weekend of August 15-16, 2015 to mark this special anniversary.
NWOC looks forward to hosting Jerry on Saturday and listening to his WWII aviation history.
