EAA Warbirds of America Hall of Fame Inducts Two
Since the 1950’s EAA has recognized men and women who have made important contributions to the world of aviation. Tonight, EAA will continue that tradition of recognizing personal excellence by adding 8 names to the select roster of EAA’s Sport Aviation Hall of Fame. Two of those inductees will enter the EAA Warbirds of America Hall of Fame, Steve Hinton and Kermit Weeks.
Steve Hinton:
A pilot since 1971, Steve has logged more than 9,500 hours with over 120 aircraft types flown. His accomplishments include world speed record holder, two-time national air race champion, motion picture pilot & coordinator, air show performer and warbird restorer. Steve is President of the Planes of Fame Museum, with two facilities – Chino, California and Valle Grand Canyon, Arizona. As owner of Fighter Rebuilders, a company dedicated to the restoration of unique warbird aircraft, Steve embodies our motto - “Keep ‘em Flying”.
Kermit Weeks:
Kermit began his aviation adventures at the age of 16 by building his first aircraft. He continued building and flying in aerobatic competitions, rising to the level of two-time US national aerobatic champion. At age 24, Kermit began collecting warbird aircraft including a T-6, P-51, P-40 and more, leading to the development of the Weeks Aviation Museum. In 1995, he opened the Fantasy of Flight Museum - “The World’s Greatest Aviation Collection”. We salute Kermit’s outstanding efforts to restore and display some of the worlds most significant warbird aircraft.
EAA Warbirds of America congratulates Steve Hinton and Kermit Weeks on their outstanding accomplishments.
