Disabled American Veterans Brings Message to EAA AirVenture 2005
The Disabled American Veterans, representing more than 1.2 million disabled veterans, is a non-profit organization founded in 1920 and chartered by the U.S. congress in 1932. It is dedicated to one, single purpose: building better lives for our nation’s disabled veterans and their families. As part of an air show tour, the DAV will bring its timely and patriotic message to EAA AirVenture on the wings of Panchito, a fully restored B-25 Mitchell Bomber, The organization will also sponsor the DAV Headquarters, located in the Warbirds area on the AirVenture grounds. Throughout the day, representatives will be at the headquarters and are ready to meet, greet and answer questions about veteran’s benefits. They want to meet everyone and their families who have served on a B-25. Near Panchito and the DAV Headquarters, the veterans’ service organization will have a Mobile Service Office staffed with VA claims experts ready to provide assistance and answer the questions of the veterans in attendance. Information on the DAV’s extensive Voluntary Service Network will also be on hand to let those interested know how to get involved in providing assistance to disabled veterans. “The DAV is thrilled to bring our message of volunteerism and support for our nation’s sick and disabled veterans to EAA AirVenture 2005. We believe the men, women and children who will visit this air show are the patriotic, military-friendly citizens that have helped make this nation so great,” said DAV National Commander James E. Sursely. “The DAV is proud to be among this crowd, and to meet and greet those who want to know more about our service to sick and disabled veterans.”
