T-6 Accident Reported in Florida

EAA Warbirds of America is deeply saddened by the loss of Jim Kern, WB# 12713, and Jon Hedgecock, in the crash of a T-6 training aircraft near Kissimmee, FL on May 9, 2005. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Kern and Hedgecock families.

The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, and will be for some time. The EAA Warbirds of America Safety Chairman has been very active in the process, assisting the North American Trainer Association in gaining "interested party status" to the investigation. It is critically important to have the T-6 community represented during the investigation, providing technical support, as needed. EAA Warbirds of America will continue to represent the interests of it's members in this matter.

We urge our members to refrain from speculating on the accident causes as this may be counter productive. EAA Warbirds of America will pass along any confirmed information as it becomes available from the proper authorities.
